Reservoirs - basins, lagoons and holding dams

img04The use of flexible geomembrane liners in this most traditional application area is now legion and it is very difficult to imagine any holding pond or reservoir which is required for long –term , safe storage of liquids and residues to not employ the use of these materials.

The use of flexible geomembrane liners remains the most economic and cost effective means of providing storage for liquids and solids whilst at the same time providing protection to the local environment.

Typically, Linings which fall into this category can be divided , but certainly not limited to the following groups: Potable water / Raw water/ Chemical process / Night Storage / Storm surge / Effluent / Leachate / Hazardous / and numerous other types.

Contact Enviro Seal now for a fully professional service relating to advice on product selection, capability profiling and quotations for the supply and /or installation of lining solutions for specific projects.

Waste Water Treatment Lagoons - sewage and industrial effluent holding ponds

img03During the cycle of waste collection from human and animal excrement which is almost entirely organic in nature , many different methods are employed in the breakdown and reduction into a form which is treated further before being released into the environment and natural water courses.

A combination of the following working either together or in isolation can generate the reactions necessary to break down natural waste into forms which can again be accepted by nature.

  • Aerobic methods using floating aerators
  • Biomass inclusions into the waste bodies either at ambient or at elevated temperatures in controlled environments within digestors, tanks and reactors
  • Anaerobic systems where air is precluded from the reaction process and then fed to lined facultative and maturation ponds which allow for the final reaction to take place prior to re-entry into the environment

img01In all of these situations, flexible geomembrane liners are utilised to great effect to prevent loss of product into the environment and in so doing , protecting the underlying aquifers.

The geomembrane liners under these circumstances should be durable and resistant not only to climatic effects , but also to the organic elements and oils with fatty acids which are always to be found in waste types of this genre. The actual design of lining systems requires great attention to detail when considering physical and mechanical forces which can be imposed upon the liner systems during phases of filling / emptying, cleaning and use of the various impoundments.

Typically, Linings which fall into this category can be sub divided , but certainly not limited to the following Groups : Aeration / Facultative / Maturation / Digestors/ Anaerobic / Osmotic systems.
